A week before being held out of UTSA's Cure Bowl game for undisclosed reasons, receiver Joshua Cephus rolled his vehicle in an accident near campus and is "suspected of DWI," according to a police report. The San Antonio Police Department said Tuesday that the incident remains under investigation. UTSA's athletics department said Cephus has been suspended. The accident occurred at 3:25 a.m. on Dec. 9 near the university's main campus, at the intersection of Babcock Road and UTSA Boulevard. In a report filed with the Texas Department of Transportation, an SAPD officer who responded to the crash wrote that Cephus was "suspected of DWI as he had been drinking."

In another section of the report, the officer entered a numerical code indicating that alcohol was believed to be a "contributing factor" in the accident. Cephus, 21, suffered minor injuries but declined emergency medical assistance. The report says he was transported to 401 S. Frio St., the magistration center of San Antonio Municipal Court, to provide a blood specimen to determine his blood alcohol concentration. A magistrate sent him to a hospital to be medically cleared, SAPD said. The hospital was not identified. - Express-News
